Essex Re-Releases the Wilson Club | Luxury Micro Apartments in Chicago’s Uptown

October 28, 2022

Essex Realty Group, Inc., a commercial real estate brokerage firm based in Chicago, has been exclusively retained to market for sale The Wilson Club, an exceptional 76-unit multi-family apartment building located at 1124 West Wilson Avenue in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood.

After operating as the Wilson Men’s Hotel for almost 80 years, the building was completely rebuilt to now include 76 micro apartments, many with loft areas, and one ground floor retail space. Completed in 2021, this boutique elevator building features expansive common areas with tasteful design. The apartments have beautiful high-end finishes including stainless steel appliances, quartz countertops, subway tile backsplash, in-unit laundry, and individual Carrier mini-split systems. Building amenities for tenants include access to the fitness center, rooftop deck with grills, bicycle storage, co-working area, resident lounge, and game room. The street level retail space is approximately 1,977 SF and currently occupied by JT Training Studios.

“The Wilson Club has long been a fixture in Uptown and it’s amazing to see how it has been transformed into a state-of-the-art boutique apartment building without losing its Uptown roots,” explains Jim Darrow. Darrow and fellow Essex principal Jordan Gottlieb are representing the seller, a local developer, in this transaction.

The property is ideally situated on the north side of Wilson Avenue, just west of Broadway Avenue, and is conveniently located steps from the new Wilson CTA Station. The Wilson CTA Station provides access to the Red and Purple lines and recently opened after a $203M reconstruction project. On the east side of the building, visible from the CTA platform, is a massive mural spanning 140 feet. The mural was painted by local artist Joe Miller and is called ‘Uptown Dot King’.

The Wilson Club is listed for sale at $12,950,000 and presents a rare opportunity to acquire a newly rebuilt luxury apartment building in the heart of rapidly appreciating Uptown, across the street from Truman College, and steps away from an endless choice of trendy restaurants, local coffee shops and evening entertainment options.
