Essex Realty Group, Inc. is pleased to announce the sale of 6031-6043 N. Paulina St. located in Chicago’s Edgewater neighborhood. The property consists of forty-three (43) apartments comprised of thirty-seven (37) one-bedroom and six (6) two-bedroom/one-bath units.

The yellow courtyard building has been owned and meticulously maintained by the same family for more than fifty years. According to Brad Desent, who along with his siblings sold the building, “Our parents actually met at this building and then had the opportunity and foresight to purchase it. It has been a part of our family for more than half a century. We grew up shoveling coal to fuel the furnace and all worked at different times to maintain the building. It has been a great family business spanning several generations.”

The recent sale price was approximately $5,700,000. Records indicate the property was purchased in 1965 for a price of $260,000.

The purchaser was a private investor completing a 1031 Tax Deferred Exchange.
