Essex Welcomes Four Interns to 2022 Summer Internship Program

June 27, 2022

Essex Realty Group, Inc. is proud to announce Ari Velliotis, David Kugler, Jack Skaja and Sam Ruskin have joined the team as summer 2022 interns.

The interns will meet with different teams at Essex for ongoing training sessions throughout the summer. Some of the topics covered thus far include financial analysis, analyzing rent and sold comps, marketing, lending, and career paths in the industry. They look forward to future lessons about renovation strategies, building systems, and attending property tours. Together with the Essex Database Committee, they are assisting in adding 2021 sales comp data to the company’s proprietary sales database and then will help turn the data into meaningful and impactful charts that reflect real estate trends over the last 30 years.

Tetis Seferi, one of the leaders of the Essex Internship Program, explains “It has been wonderful working with Ari, David, Jack, and Sam this summer. They are always ready to jump into a new project, they take initiative, and have easily handled every challenge tossed at them so far.”

Ari Velliotis recently completed his first year at Boston College where he studies Economics and Finance. Last summer he worked at one of Chicago’s most well-known hot dog stands, Clark Street Dogs, which is owned by his father. This summer, Ari is excited to be exposed to the commercial real estate industry, “I am looking forward to working with, and learning from, everyone in the office. I am also excited to work in the field and meet other industry professionals and see their thought processes and day-to-day activities.” In his free time, Ari enjoys playing soccer with his friends.

David Kugler is looking forward to starting his senior year at the University of Denver in the fall. There, he majors in Real Estate and minors in Business Analytics, is the president of his fraternity, and enjoys skiing and playing soccer. Last summer he worked at a restaurant, where he gained invaluable skills in conflict management and customer service. This summer, David is excited to observe what it takes to become a commercial real estate broker, “the Essex culture and company’s transaction volume drew me to this opportunity. I cannot wait to participate in a fast-paced working environment with so many successful people around me.”

Jack Skaja is a veteran intern who is returning for his second summer at the company. In the fall, he will be a senior at Illinois State University where he majors in Communications with a focus on Business Management. “I had a great experience last summer and did not want to stop there. This summer, I hope to get an even better look into the ins and outs of brokerage and learn about different multifamily investment strategies that I can use later in life.” In his free time, Jack likes to hang out with his friends and recently returned from a family trip to Maui, HI.

Sam Ruskin is a rising senior at The Ohio State University where he studies Finance and Film. He is delighted to be joining the team this summer and hopes to apply some of his investment knowledge to the real estate field, “last summer, I interned at an investment banking firm where I learned a great deal about the banking industry. I cannot wait to see what I can apply from that internship to this one here at Essex. Investment strategies, work in the field, and meeting other people in the office are a few things I look forward to this summer.” In his free time, Ruskin likes to cook, play chess, and watch movies.
